BlakBear, an Imperial College spinout, invented the industry's first digital freshness sensor — a paper-based gas sensor placed inside food packaging that measures spoilage in real time, replacing static printed expiry dates with live freshness data. They needed support to grow from a university research project into a commercial operation deployed across major food manufacturers.
